One great tip before you even apply the foundation is to ensure you take care of your skin. Find a great product to improve your skin and the foundation will sit better on your skin.
The best way to find your perfect foundation match is the try it on. I would recommend going to a makeup counter that has an assistant who can help you. If this is not possible this post may help you choose the right foundation match on your own.
1st choose the type of foundation be it liquid, powder or cream. If you have dry skin I would go for a hydration liquid or cream, if your skin is oily then a powder or oil-free liquid is normally best.
Knowing your under tone will also help (if you don’t know how to find this out already, read this to find out your own skin undertone)
Pick a colour you feel may be your foundation match, then pick 1 to 2 shades each side of that. Apply a thin layer of each foundation to a clean (foundation free) jaw line. The colour shade that blends directly into your skin and isn’t too light or dark is the right foundation match for you.
If you can’t decide between two shades that both look good I would normally go for the warmer shade as it will see you into the summer.
